Attendees included the Pure Energy team, salon clients, and members from Aveda and Clean Ocean Action (COA), an organization dedicated to improving the degraded quality of waters along the New Jersey and New York coast. The event was held at a beautiful loft apartment in Nutley, N.J. It was a day of celebration and inspiration that included an assortment of music, great food, Aveda experiences and awareness of Clean Ocean Action.
Sharon Viggiano and Cecilia Montemurro from Aveda offered our guests oil infused hot towels, hand massages with Aveda’s Shampure and Caribbean moisturizing candle wax, and make-up touch ups with Aveda’s new spring colors.
Jennifer Smiga and Emily Hacket from Clean Ocean Action passed out information regarding the current water conditions and educated guests about what COA is doing to help protect and improve our waters. They also received numerous signatures for a petition involving a campaign for the Clean Ocean Zone (COZ), which is a bi-state effort to permanently protect the waters off the New York and New Jersey coast from polluting and destructive activities, such as new dumpsites for wastes and oil and gas drilling. The event included a raffle that raised over $400 for Clean Ocean Action. Prizes included salon services donated by each employee, an Aveda gift basket courtesy of Aveda and a massage from the American Eastern Wellness Center.
